Sol led on, and her siblings followed. Morgan thought little of the journey, believing this was the way things had always been, but Titan was concerned. Even though he hid it well, laughed and smiled and even honestly enjoyed himself, she could sense that he was worried about the addling and dawdling course Sol had set for them.
Morgan didn't understand it or sense it, but Titan knew her far too well for her to be able to hide it from him: Sol was lingering because she no longer knew what to do. She had chosen the furthest possible source of knowledge as their next destination, and she had led them on a slow, meandering course: she was unsure of herself, and it was maddening. She had never hesitated before, even after she had begun to warm to Titan: but with Morgan here, and realizing there could be a future, not just a past...
So they wandered, stopping at almost every village or settlement they crossed, resting frequently, and with Sol watching over Morgan and Titan less like they were her siblings, and more like she was some doting parent. And even if he was worried for her, Titan still made the most of this strange situation he found himself in, taking Morgan out to make merry, teaching her about the way he looked at the world as she reveled in his natural wisdom.
They were a strange family, but a good one: Sol would not admit to it, but she enjoyed the way that Morgan looked up to her, and how eager she was to learn, even if Titan encouraged her brash and mischievous side and part of Sol still held fears about what Morgan's dark powers could mean. But at the same time, she felt there was a strange balance in it: she ruled with fire, Titan was a horse of stone and earth, and now Morgan had brought dominance over the night with her. There was a poetry in this, a rightness that gave Sol some strange sense of... destiny.
Many nights she thought on this, on what it could mean. Always, she'd thought that finding your fate meant heading somewhere, going to some place, traveling and journeying until you found what you were looking for. Maybe all these years she had been wrong, though: certainly, her journey had brought her knowledge and helped her find her family, but now she was aimless, only wandering, only pretending to lead them to some new place of great import. No, maybe truly, their destiny was within themselves, as foolish as that sounded even in her own ears.
But as she had learned from Titan, often foolishness hid wisdom... and now, assembled as they were, they had a chance to do great good together. They were three factions, united as one family... and so long ago, the great prophet who had sent her to this land in the first place had said that one day, the clans of ponies would be united under one roof, and in combining their powers, would be invulnerable. For the first time, she believed not only that it was possible, but that together, these many ponies could accomplish anything... and for the first time in her life, Sol felt that she wanted to see that happen. Not a dozen scattered baronies, with thin alliances and many enemies: she wanted to see one strong, united Equestria, an Equestria where all ponies would be equal, and would stand together as one.
For that to happen, however, the land would have to be given a reason to unite, would need to be led by example. The thought only made Sol smile, however, and when the next day came and brought with it the chance to lead her family onwards, she did so with a new resolve and a new determination, eager to begin the process of putting this broken land back together.
